The International Precipitation Group (IPWG) provides a forum for operational and research users of satellite precipitation measurements to exchange information and fosters the development of better measurements and improvement of their utilization, the improvement of scientific understanding, and the development of international partnerships. This joint international workshop of IPWG and IWSSM has the following objectives:
* Review the state of the art of rainfall and snowfall/high-latitude precipitation measurement techniques.
* Discuss the application of satellite precipitation products for research and operations.
* Recommend future directions to WMO and the Coordination Group for Meteorological Satellites (CGMS) and coordinate with the Global Energy and Water Exchanges project (GEWEX) on topics related to precipitation.
Researchers, trainers, meteorological operational personnel, representatives from space agencies, specialists of ground observations, remote sensing instruments, and algorithm developers.
