EUMeTrain in cooperation with EUMETSAT and Eumetcal is organizing the 6th Marine Satellite Course scheduled between 31th March and 4th April 2025. The course will be in a classroom format, preceded by a short asynchronous on-line course preparation, and will take place in Lisbon, at the headquarters of the Portuguese Institute for the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA). It will follow the Marine Weather Forecasters Competence Requirements set by WMO, namely focusing on the following three competencies: Analyse and monitor continually the marine weather situation;
Forecast marine weather phenomena, variables and parameters; Warn of hazardous marine meteorological phenomena.
Targeted Audience:
The primary audience are operational marine weather forecasters across Europe.
Applicants are expected to have firm understanding of i) satellite image interpretation at the WMO Basic Instruction Package for
Meteorologists (BIP-M) level; ii) ocean and atmospheric models at the BIP-M level; iii) forecasting.
