Species Distribution Modeling with Remote Sensing

Start Date:
Aug. 12, 2021
End Date:
Aug. 19, 2021
Description:
Species Distribution Models (SDMs) play a critical role in biodiversity, conservation, and understanding the potential impacts to ecosystems under changing climate conditions. This 3-part series focuses on Species Distribution Models (SDMs), the use of remote sensing data for landscape characterization, and highlight multiple tools for conducting SDM for a variety of ecosystems.
Targeted Audience:
Local, regional, state, federal, and non-governmental organizations involved in conservation, biodiversity, species modeling, and coastal and ocean processes
Expected Outcomes:
By the end of this training, attendees will be able to: • Outline the uses of SDMs • Recall the data inputs and model framework of SDMs • Distinguish the benefits and limitations of SDMs • Execute the R-based Wallace code for SDMs • Summarize and access multiple SDM tools
