Description:
This course will address the benefits of Meteosat satellites in convective weather forecasting in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. With new MTG Meteosat-12 satellite becoming operational, emphasis will be given on utilisation of novel FCI and LI instrument data. The training will be done mostly through hands-on experiences with the real MTG data. Different use cases will be demonstrated through case scenarios (also from the MENA region). The course will be preceded by a preparatory online course covering the fundamentals and principles of weather satellites, to be held from 19 to 22 January 2026 .
Targeted Audience:
Operational users (eg forecasters) from the Middle East and North Africa region. Working language both English and Arabic.
