The Trevor Platt Science Foundation (TPSF) and its partners are proud to announce **TREVOR-SAFARI 2026**.
This landmark event merges two major community-building initiatives inspired by the legacy of Prof Trevor Platt, FRS, FRSC. This symposium marks the second instalment of the TREVOR symposium, following its 2023 debut at the Plymouth Marine Laboratory, UK, and the third SAFARI symposium. The previous two SAFARI symposia were organised by ICAR-CIFT (2010) and ICAR-CMFRI (2018).
The symposium is being jointly organised by **TPSF, COD-CUSAT, MBAI, ICAR-CMFRI** and will be held on 4–6 November 2026, at the Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (ICAR-CMFRI) in Kochi, India.
The symposium will be preceded by a training course organised by the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS, Hyderabad) and the Department of Chemical Oceanography at Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT, Kochi).
The training course will be run in two segments. The initial segment consists of a series of online lectures, followed by in-person classroom sessions and computer work, from 27–31 October 2026 at INCOIS, Hyderabad, India. The second segment, held in Kochi, India from 1-3 November 2026, consists of a field trip to Vembanad Lake in Kerala, India, and laboratory analyses of the samples collected during the field trip at CUSAT, Kochi, India.
All participants in the training course are expected to submit an abstract to the symposium and actively participate in it.
