EUMETSAT Sea Surface Temperature and Ice Surface Temperature: Recent Updates to Products, Tools and User Support

Start Date:
Sept. 2, 2026
Description:
Sea Surface Temperature (SST) and Ice Surface Temperature (IST) products are fundamental to a wide range of applications, from numerical weather prediction and ocean forecasting to climate monitoring and polar research. Over recent years, EUMETSAT has introduced significant developments across its operational temperature product portfolio, including new Copernicus Sentinel-3 SLSTR products, enhancements delivered through the Ocean and Sea Ice Satellite Application Facility (OSI SAF), and an expanding range of user support resources. This two-hour online event provides a concise update on the latest developments to EUMETSAT's SST and IST products. Participants will gain an overview of recent changes to the operational product suite, including the introduction of new geophysical parameters, such as Sea Surface Temperature at Depth (SSTdepth) and Sea Ice Surface Temperature (IST), alongside updates to processing, product availability, and access services. The session will also showcase the latest user support resources available through EUMETSAT, including documentation, software tools, training materials, and practical examples, designed to help users transition to new products and workflows with confidence. This event is intended for existing and prospective users of EUMETSAT SST and IST products who wish to stay up to date with the latest developments. It will be particularly valuable for participants planning to attend the EUMETSAT Meteorological Satellite Conference, providing an opportunity to become familiar with recent product and service developments in advance of the meeting. Attendees will, therefore, be well prepared to engage with EUMETSAT product experts and take full advantage of technical discussions throughout the conference.
