ESA CCI Webinar Glacier changes in the Karakoram: Insights from the X-ECV Karakoram Anomaly project

Start Date:
Oct. 21, 2026
End Date:
Oct. 21, 2026
Description:
The webinar will provide for an insightful webinar on using satellite data to monitor glacier dynamics in the Karakoram. Frank will present first results from the X-ECV project Karakoram Anomaly, which combines climate data with Earth observation data to improve glacier mass-balance modelling in a region characterised by sparse measurements and rapidly changing glaciers.
Targeted Audience:
Academics, policy makers, students and anyone with an interest in climate change.
Expected Outcomes:
Attendees will learn how satellite and climate data are combined to monitor glaciers in the Karakoram. They will also hear the first results from the CCI Karakoram Anomaly project and see how this approach is improving glacier mass-balance modelling.
