Description:
Introduction to GIS is a six (6) week online course that provides an introduction to some of the key aspects of the GIS discipline that revolves around manipulation and management of spatial data. In this course, participants will learn how to apply open-source or proprietary software packages (i.e. QGIS or ArcGIS) to perform basic input, output, analytical processing and visualization operations on spatial data. Persons taking the course will require access to a Microsoft Windows computer with internet access and at least one of the following software resources: 1. ArcGIS Desktop Software (Versions 10.0 to 10.5) with Spatial Analyst extension. 2. QGIS Software (Version 2.18)
Targeted Audience:
Caribbean Meteorological Organisation (CMO) Member States applicants will be given preference. The course is aimed at public entities that provide services with the focus of water resources management, meteorology, climate, disaster management and other affiliated areas at the national, regional or international level. It is expected that persons taking the course will have had limited or no exposure to GIS. Maximum number of participants:40
